Full Day Blackwater & Mersea Island Cruise (boarding 06:00)

£95.00

Come with us on a full day sail with only 12 passengers, on the river Blackwater. When under sail see how 2 men handle the barge and when appropriate you may fancy a go on the wheel or pulling some ropes.

Our plan is to visit the hidden gem that is West Mersea, a delightful blend of old fishing village and seaside town. We will anchor just offshore around midday and take the barge boat ashore for about three hours.

There is an excellent Museum; the beach is good; there are lots of places to eat, lots of cafes, an Oyster Bar, the Victory pub and the famous Company Shed fish restaurant.

For the more energetic there are local walks.

Passengers will have to be able to alight from the side of the barge into the barge boat.

Our priority is your safety and the barge will be fully cleaned before you arrive.
An on-board host will manage the CV-19 guidelines, and a safety brief will be given before sailing.
Masks will not need to be worn on deck, but you should bring a mask in case you need to go below deck during the trip.

You MUST book and pay for your trip in advance and we will not be able to take any bookings on the day of the trip.

Boarding will start at 06:00 hours on the Hythe Quay at Maldon, close to the bailiff’s hut. Please wait on the Quay until asked to board. If Covid-19 restrictions are still in place you will be asked to check in using the NHS QR code if applicable for track and trace.
