Leaving Maldon Quay on Friday morning at 05:30 we have a three-day cruise which includes one of the toughest barge matches due to the narrow channel of the River Orwell, the Pin Mill barge match, it offers an impressive nautical spectacle. Always well attended, with lots of barges racing through Harwich Harbour, followed by a evening ashore in the Pin Mill Yacht Club for the prize giving and evening meal. Sunday will be a relaxing sail back to the Maldon Quay.

Boarding at Maldon on Thursday evening at 19:00 and departing  early Friday morning (05:30), this three-day cruise includes one of the toughest barge matches due to the narrow channel, the Pin Mill barge match, offers an impressive nautical spectacle. Always well attended, with lots of barges racing through Harwich Harbour, followed by a evening ashore in the Pin Mill Yacht Club for the prize giving and evening meal. Sunday will be a relaxing sail back to the Maldon Quay.

Accommodation is in 2 or 4 berth cabins with bunk beds. A mattress is provided but guests will need to bring own bedding/sleeping bag. When it comes to the domestic stuff we provide the provisions and everyone mucks in with some simple cooking and of course clearing up afterwards.  When boarding the night before sailing the first meal is Breakfast the next day.

You MUST book and pay for your trip in advance.

 

Boarding will start early evening on Thursday 1st July from 19:00, on the Hythe Quay at Maldon, close to the bailiff’s hut. Please wait on the quay until asked to board. If Covid-19 restrictions are still in place you will be asked to check in using the NHS QR code if applicable for track and trace.

Our priority is your safety and the barge will be fully cleaned before you arrive. A safety brief will be given before sailing. If Covid -19 restrictions are still in place a Covid brief will also be given on arrival and masks will not need to be worn on deck, but should be worn whilst you are below deck during the cruise.
